Hands on- Pg 44 : Activity 5.1 : Stages of mitosis

Stages of mitosis
Aim
: To prepare and observe a slide of an onion root tip to identify stages of mitosis

Observation
Prophase
Metaphase

Anaphase


Telophase
Discussion
1. Prophase --> Metaphase--> Anaphase--> Telophase
2. i) Chromosomes are arranged in a line at the metaphase plate/in the middle of the cell.
ii) Sister chromatids separate and move to opposite poles of the cell.
iii) Two sets of chromosomes reach the opposite poles of the cell.

Conclusion
Mitosis is a process consisting of porphase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase which are arranged in order.
